If you look at the way that a business is run, you will notice that for many businesses, it is a long line of investing with the hopes that the investment will, eventually, turn up good for the business. For example, you invest in the process of creating a business so that you can (hopefully) make money over the long term, although this may not always be the outcome. There are, of course, other perks, like being your own boss, setting your own hours, and being able to get out of your company whatever you put in (at least ideally, this would be the case). You invest in a building for your business, either via purchase or a lease, so that you can look professional and so that you will be able to operate out of said building, and hopefully you invest in the proper building for whatever business it is that you are operating. You also invest in equipping the building properly; if you’re going to be running a machinist shop, you will need to have the proper gear for whatever you’re machining. Running a restaurant? You will spend hundreds of thousands on purchasing the things that you need to run a large kitchen in order to be able to serve the large amount of people who are likely (hopefully) to come through your doors, and if you are running a shop, you’ll need a POS (point of sale) system, and all the things you need to display your wares and whatnot. Then there are various other investments, like hiring people, things like that, but all of it is an investment. Yet, sadly, there is one investment that often seems to get ignored. I’m speaking of the trade show booth.
You see, for many businesses, about once a year, they have a get together, all the businesses that compete in their industry, to show off the things that they have made, and the things that they are currently in the process of making. They get together and show off what they have to offer the market, and the industry as a whole. Of course, they aren’t showing off for each other, that would be silly, it would just be an eternal ‘keeping up with the Jones’s’ sort of ordeal, and it would effectively destroy any competition and any innovation in a lot of bad ways. No, they’re showing their trade show booths off for the people who purchase from their industry, the people that they make their money in selling to.
Now, that isn’t to say that all trade shows, and all trade show displays, are created equal, or that they are all the same, or all going to be aimed at the same people. You see, there are two kind of common trade shows. There is one that is aimed entirely at the people in the industry, and those tertiary industries from which said industry derives its income, and then there is a second kind, a trade show that is going to be open to the entire public and open to anyone who wants to spend the money and time to get in to see the show. How you treat both are going to be very different, too. For example, if you’re at a trade show that is designed entirely around the idea of showing off for the industry, an industry show only, then yes, you are going to want to make sure that you keep your trade show booth simple, and not so flashy. You will want to make one that is going to be informative, but that will also be in keeping with the solemnity of the event that you are going to be presenting at. On the other hand, your expo displays, if you are showing your products to the general public, can be a lot more geared toward showing off, flashy, that kind of thing, so that you can catch the attention of people who are there of their own volition perusing, and aren’t there with some certain need in mind that they are looking to fill because they need it for a business or so that they themselves can make a profit. The point here is that you must have the appropriate display for the appropriate trade show, or else you’re wasting your time and your money.
The point is that if you want to have an investment that can pay off some huge dividends in the long run, you should take a look at investing in a trade show booth. It’s something you will likely be glad that you invested in.
